There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.  1 Corinthians 12:4-7

I cannot sing my way out of a paper bag; I make a ‘joyful noise’ to the Lord.  I must admit, at times I am envious of those who have great musical abilities.  Oh well.

However, as Paul makes clear, God gives spiritual gifts to all those who believe and trust in His Son Jesus.  What is important is not really what gifts He gives us, but what do we do with the gifts we have.

In the story of the talents, Jesus talks about a master who gave different resources to three servants.  Later when the master returned and checked on their progress, the two who used the money to make more were commended, but the servant who buried the money was chastised and lost even the little he had.  Matthew 25:14-25

Regardless of our talents and abilities, God expects us to use them.

The real tragedy of life is not in being limited to one talent, but in the failure to use the one talent.  Edgar W. Work.
