When I was in grade school, I read a book about Heinrich Schliemann’s discovery of the fabled city of Troy. That experience started a love affair with history and archaeology.
My parents grew up in the Great Depression, so I learned to be practical. That meant I got my initial degrees in business and law. But my real passion was history. I became an amateur historian and archaeologist.
Over the next 50 years, I was busy with my career and missions. In the late 90s I pursued my love of the Bible and History by concentrated on the Old Testament track in my Master of Theology. Then I didn’t have enough money or time to go on a dig.
Now I am retired, and I have saved up enough money to go. Of course, I am 72 with a bad back and other failings. But this opportunity is probably my last . . . .
So, in May I am joining the archaeology team from the Associates for Biblical Research at their dig at Shiloh!

Shiloh was the location of the Tabernacle during the time of the Judges. We hope to find great things as we excavate at this important site.
Please pray with us:
For peace in the area. The Israeli government may cancel the license for the dig if it does not consider this area north of Jerusalem to be safe.
For safe travels and good health for all the team members.
For wisdom for the archaeologists as they process the finds, write their analyses and get funding to publish their studies.
