Why is Good Friday called good

For years the name of this holiday did not make sense to me.  For one thing, why celebrate the death of Jesus?   This event was not some pleasant, pastel Easter play, but the real deal.   Jesus was tortured, nailed to a tree and died, for heaven’s sake!

And yes, it was for heaven’s sake, as well as ours, which is why we call this Friday “Good.”  If you want to watch a short video that recently has gone viral that explains why all this happened, check this out —-
