In 2 Timothy 2:2 the Apostle Paul instructs Timothy, “And the things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, these entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.” This is a description of multiplication. Each summer since 2008 our team at the General Counsel’s Office (GCO) has had the joy and privilege of helping to develop the law students who participate in Cru’s Legal internship. Building Christ-centered multiplying disciples in the legal profession is one of the goals of the internship.
This summer’s legal internship will be held on the campus of Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Six law students, from as many different law schools, will receive professional work training and experience in non-profit domestic and international law, as well as intentional personal and spiritual development. The work they accomplish will address issues that will directly affect Cru’s ability to take the gospel to the ends of the earth.
This is the 10th legal internship hosted by our General Counsel’s Office. More than 60 law students have participated. They are now influencing others in various professional arenas, including law firms, private practice, corporate, government, and education. One former intern is clerking for a federal judge; another is working for a Washington, DC-based agency which provides legal services for the poor. A former intern from Germany is now recognized as an international expert on child abduction.
Some of our former interns have joined us as staff attorneys in Cru’s General Counsel’s Office! We pray that more will join us. Wherever the Lord takes them, they are equipped to integrate their faith with the practice of law and positively impact their spheres of influence.
I will join the team in Colorado for our Cru17 Staff Training Conference July 16-24. Cru17 will be a time to connect with God, one another and the great body of Christ. We will hear from speakers on how to continually step into the fullness that God has called each of us into.
And there is a great opportunity for you!
For the first time, our training conference has reserved a special weekend for our partners.
Cru17 Connection Weekend is a special, three-day event where we desire to engage with Christ-followers from around the nation. We desire to be a collective of people advancing the mission of Jesus together and the Connection Weekend will be a time to learn alongside others who are expanding God’s kingdom. The time together will include conference sessions, exciting entertainment, an evening party and a benefit 5K run/walk.
We are so pleased this year at Cru17 to host Connection Weekend for our partners who have a heart to see the world radically impacted by partnership in the gospel.
Collaboration and partnership always lead to greater impact. A world which knows Jesus can only be accomplished through linked arms. Partners who are willing to share their knowledge with other believers, who desire to collaborate in ministry in life, to have their hearts refreshed with deep vision and who are ready to partner locally or globally are invited to Connection Weekend.
What should I expect during the Connection Weekend part of Cru17?
Together we will experience excellent Bible teaching, messages from innovative thought leaders from a variety of organizations, workshops on partnering, networking opportunities to meet other believers passionate about their causes, specialized ministry training, and LOTS of fun celebrating what God is doing in our world today.
